Professional Education: Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Conference 2000

M. D. Anderson's Office of Conference Services announces this conference to evaluate progress in GI cancer research November 16-18, 2000 at the Orlando World Center Marriot in Orlando, FL. The panel session specifically discussing progress in pancreatic cancer will take place on the morning of November 18. There is also an open call for emailed abstracts to be presented during panel and poster sessions.

Education/Awareness: Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month 2000
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is once again leading the campaign to have November 2000 declared Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. In 1999, 49 states and several Canadian provinces responded with an official proclamation or recognition.

Everyone is invited to take part in the campaign, which is as simple as sending a letter to the governor of your state. For more information and copies of sample letters, email Carolyn Denice at cdenice@pancan.org

Carolyn says they are most in need of volunteers from Mississippi, Montana, and North/South Dakota. All volunteers from all states and provinces are welcome to participate.
