Research/Education:

Dr. Douglas Evans and Dr James Abbruzzese have been appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. This foundation is a collaboration of medical and laboratory scientists pooling their resources to identify new strategies in pancreatic cancer treatment.

Clinical Trials: Multidisciplinary

The PTSG announces the openeing of a new protocol ID98-248, "Phase II Study of Gemcitabine-based Chemoradiation and TNP-470 for Patients with Locally-Advanced, Non-metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Pancreas." This study is testing a new combination of standard chemoradiation developed at M D Anderson with an angiogenesis inhibitor. It is hoped that this combination will prevent liver metastases.
