The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has a well-established multimodality program for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with suspected or proven pancreatic cancer.  In addition, the institution has a basic research program that investigates underlying biologic mechanisms that may contribute to the development or progression of pancreatic cancer.  This site is to inform physicians and patients about the diagnosis, treatment, and study of pancreatic cancer at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.  The information contained herein should not be used to formulate treatment plans for individual patients.  Each patient's situation is unique.  Treatment plans for patients with pancreatic cancer should be formulated after evaluation and examination by a physician experienced in the multimodality management of patients with pancreatic cancer.

The main goal of pancreatic cancer treatment at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to maximize both the quality of life and length of survival.
Treatment is based upon the exact stage of the disease and usually involves a combination of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.
