Video Interview

This video segment was originally broadcast live on Houston's PBS station, KUHT-TV Channel 8 on November 15, 1999. It was presented as the "Medical Mondays" segment of the program Weeknight Edition.

The interview, hosted by Patricia Gras, was arranged as one of the activities for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, 1999 in Texas.

Dr Douglas Evans, chief of pancreatic surgery, discusses the basics of pancreatic cancer and treatment, and current research directions;

Janice Castle, one of Dr Evans' patients, describes her personal experience with diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer as a survivor of almost ten years.

In order to view the video, you must install the RealPlayer G2 or a higher version.Click here to download RealPlayer If you do not have this player, you can download it free of charge from www.real.com

There are two versions of the video: a smaller 28.8K version and a larger LAN/ISDN version.

The video must be completely downloaded first by clicking one of the links. Please note the download time before choosing which version to run. The LAN/ISDN version is of very high quality, as close to television as internet video gets; thus it will take a much longer time to download before playing. The 28.8K version downloads somewhat faster, but has a slightly choppier visual quality. The audio quality of all clips is equal.
If you are connected to the Internet using a high-speed line (ie, LAN, ISDN, DSL, T1, etc) either of these files will download in only a few moments. We would strongly recommend the 8 MB version.

Listen to the audio-only version (901K file)
Approximate Downlad Time:
