How to Refer a
Patient for Evaluation

The members of our multidisciplinary Pancreatic Tumor Study Group work together to ensure that all patients with pancreatic cancer or possible pancreatic cancer are seen and treated as soon as possible. An initial appointment is usually scheduled for within a week of the referral phone call. If a patient is a possible surgical candidate, high-resolution computed tomography scans of the abdomen with 5-mm sections through the pancreas will be obtained the day prior to the clinic appointment along with a chest X-ray and laboratory studies (blood and urine tests). This allows treatment planning to begin at the first clinic visit.
