These studies are for patients with potentially resectable adenocarcinoma of the pancreas and a positive tissue diagnosis (EUS - Guided FNA or previous laparotomy) of cancer.

Multi-Institutional Phase II Study of Preoperative Rapid-Fractionation External-Beam Radiation Therapy and Concomitant Gemzar (gemcitabine) for Patients with Resectable Adenocarcinoma of the Pancreatic Head (Protocol ID98-020)

(Protocol is open and accepting new patients.)

Study Chairman: Douglas Evans, MD
Study Sponsor: MDACC

Gemcitabine: 400mg/meter squared administered over 30 minutes weekly for 7 weeks Radiation therapy: 30.0 Gy/10 fractions/2 weeks (Monday-Friday) to begin 3 days after the first dose of gemcitabine

Surgery: Extended Pancreacticoduodenectomy
