ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES
Ash Wednesday Observances
Ash Wednesday will occur on February 22nd, 2012. For many Christians this initiates the weeks of Lent prior to the celebration of Easter. The word itself means the season of Spring and so is to be a time of repentance and renewal. The ashes remind people of their mortality and the need for spiritual renewal. The Department of Chaplaincy & Pastoral Education will offer the following times for those seeking to observe this annual Religious Observance in two locations this year; The Freeman-Dunn Chapel in the main building and the Louise J. Morgan Chapel in the Mays Building. See the schedule below. Due to the high volume of requests, staff wanting the disposition of ashes are encourage to do so at their community place of worship.
