Speaker: Suresh Reddy, MD
Speaker Bio: Dr. Reddy obtained his undergraduate and medical education at Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, India. He moved to England for training in anesthesia and became a Diplomate in Anesthesia in England and then a fellow, faculty of anesthetist Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. Subsequently, he moved to the United States where he did his postgraduate training in a Residency at New York University Medical Center where he specialized in Neuroanesthesia and Cardiac Anesthesia. This was followed by a pain fellowship at The University of Rochester, NY and later a Pain & Symptom Management Fellowship in the Department of Neuro-Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center On completion of his Fellowship training, Dr. Reddy accepted an appointment as Assistant Professor to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas where he became director of the Pain Fellowship Program, in the Division of Anesthesiology. In 1999, Dr. Reddy joined the newly established Department of Symptom Control and Palliative Care under Dr. Eduardo Bruera where he promoted to Associate Professor in 2003. In his current position as Section Chief and Director of Education, he has maintained a strong focus on clinical care while promoting education in the field of Palliative Medicine. Current research interests include cancer pain, communication skills and education outcomes for oncology fellows. He also is noted for International efforts and regularly teaches palliative care in India.
