Pediatrics Research Seminar Series: Harnessing Adult Neurogenesis By Cracking The Epigenetic Code
The Department of Pediatrics Research invites investigators with expertise in the field of pediatric tumors or relevant areas of research to present the recent findings to faculty, students and post-doctoral fellows.
Date: 12/4/12, 9am to 10am
Time: 12/4/12, 9am to 10am
Location: Smith Research Building, Conference SRB1.122
Format: Seminar/Conference
Facilitator: Vidya Gopalakrishnan, PhD
Speaker: Jenny Hsieh, PhD
Speaker Bio: Jenny Hsieh, PhD is an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical School. Research in the Hsieh laboratory explores the development and function of resident adult neural stem cells, which are a source of inherent plasticity in the mammalian brain center (hippocampus) critical for learning and memory. We study neural stem cells using a range of novel genetic, pharmacological, cellular, molecular, and imaging methods. A major focus of our lab is to understand the transcriptional/epigenetic regulatory circuity that guides neural stem cell fate decisions in both normal and pathological states.
