Services:
- Remote access to Library online resources made available through the institution’s LDAP and our proxy system
- Launched a new chat service, LibraryH3lp
- Launched a new webinar page on Library’s website to highlight our sponsored online educational events
- The Historical Resources Center completed grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to process and make available previously recorded oral histories
- The Historical Resources Center had 31 visits and our archivist responded to 32 reference requests with 216 items pulled and 2,664 deliverables
- Hosted seven interns, the most for any one year
- Responded to 11,051 information desk encounters
- Provided 2,827 literature searches and responses to reference questions for clients
- Reached 3,064 customers with classes, consultations, orientations, or tours
- Processed 7,839 interlibrary loan and document delivery requests
- Circulated 3,728 items from the library’s print collections
- Scanned 2,012 articles from the library’s print collections and delivered them electronically to clients’ desktops
- Clients made 93,754 in-person visits to the library
- Clients made over 300,000 visits to our website and we had over 43,000 remote access visits
- Library conference room hosted 227 events with 4,059 attendance; an increase of 14% over last year’s events and 22% in attendees
- Provided access to 146 databases
- Increased our electronic journal subscriptions to 5,467
- Increased our electronic book titles to 7,439
- The Historical Resources Center received 17 new accessions for a total of 74.67 linear feet of material
- The Historical Resources Center received the flag flown over the United States Congress for the MD Anderson 70th Anniversary
Events:
- Hosted a visit from the institution’s first medical librarian, Mary Catherine Bussey McGready
- Completed the Business Continuity Plan which included a complete rewrite and merging with our Emergency Plan
- Wes Browning presented “iWebKit: An Easy Implementation of a Mobile Website” at the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association Meeting
- Clara Fowler presented her poster, “My So-Called Second Life: Integrating Information Literacy Ski8lls into an Undergraduate Poster Session”
- Ron Hutchins and Stephanie Fulton presented their poster, “Tracking Case Reports of a Rare Tumor: Beyond Electronic Resources”
- Stephanie Fulton co-taught with Liz Brackeen of MD Anderson’s Learning Center a 4 hour CE course “Locating Cancer Information for You Patients and Clinicians”
- Greg Pratt provided support in the Professional Oncology Education’s team third successful CPRIT application; $290,000 was awarded for Application of a Multi-modal Professional Education Platform to Facilitate Physician Counseling for Tobacco Smokers
- The Library has contracted with Tacey Rosolowski, PhD, to conduct thirty oral history interviews. She has completed Dr Tomasovic and Dr Ahearn
- The Library’s Strategic Plan hosted on our SharePoint site for greater visibility and collaboration
- Kathy Hoffman retired after 15 years of services to MD Anderson in the Research Medical Library
- Aretha Johnson retired after 30 years of services to MD Anderson in the Research Medical Library
- Stephanie Fulton named Executive Director of the Research Medical Library
- Clara Fowler named Staff Educator of the Year and awarded a $5,000 stipend
- Yimin Geng joined the Library Staff as our new Clinical Librarian
- Amy Sisson joined the Library Staff to oversee the South Campus Library
- Esmeralda Calderon received an Awesome Job Award for her teaching from an Administrative Assistant in the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory.
- Greg received an Awesome Job Award for helping a Senior Counseling Specialist prepare for a masters degree comprehensive examination
- Stephanie Fulton is Chair of the Cancer Librarians Section of the Medical Library Association 2010-2011
- Stephanie Fulton is Chair of the Special Libraries Division of the Texas Library Association
- Stephanie Fulton is the Membership Liaison for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society – South Central Texas Chapter
- Greg Pratt presented at the Share and Compare: What's up with Texas Sci-Tech Libraries? meeting in San Antonio. His presentation was titled “Planning, Process, & Polish, Librarian as Research Analytics Provider”
