Collections:

  • Provided access to 144 databases
  • Increased our electronic journal subscriptions to 5,6.6
  • Increased our electronic book titles to 11,123
  • Received 23 new accessions in the Historical Resources Center for a total of 116.83  linear feet of material
  • Collected a total of  16 new oral histories
  • Circulated over 2,700 items from our print collection
Research, Collaboration, and Professional Association Recognition:

  • Laurissa Gann and Greg Pratt co-authored a paper, “Using library search services metrics to demonstrate library value and manage workflow” in Journal of the Medical Library Association
  • Laurissa Gann and Stephanie Fulton presented a poster at the annual meeting of the Medical Library Association, “A study of clinical faculty use of information resources on the iPad”
  • Greg Pratt co-authored a paper, “Rasburicase in tumor lysis syndrome of the adult: A systematic review and meta-analysis” in American Journal of Kidney Diseases
  • April Aultman Becker presented at the 2013 Association of College & Research Libraries, “When the question means more than an answer”
  • April Aultman Becker presented at the 2013 Texas Library Association meeting “Embedded librarianship: The good, the bad, and the ugly”
  • Javier Garza completed his certificate program in Advanced Study in Health Informatics from the University of North Texas, College of Information
  • Greg Pratt co-authored an article, “Denosumab in patients with cancer and skeletal metastases: A systematic review and met-analysis” in Cancer Treatment Reviews
    • April Aultman Becker presented “Implementing LibCal” during the TechExpo at the annual meeting of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association
    • The Research Medical Library was recognized at the Act Level by the Office of Performance Improvement for the year-long Red Tag Project
Staff Updates:

  • Allen Lopez joined the Library as our new Collections Librarian for serials and databases
  • Sherry Widdoes retired as the Collections Manager after fifteen years of service to MD Anderson and the Research Medical Library
  • JoAnn Jackson retired after thirty eight years of service to MD Anderson and the Research Medical Library
