Association of Oncology Social Work
  Oncology social work is the primary professional discipline providing psychosocial services to patients, families and caregivers facing the impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers
  The mission of APOSW is to advance practice, extend knowledge and influence pediatric oncology policies and programs in order to enhance the emotional and physical well being of children with cancer and their families.
Connective Tissue Oncology Society
  This is an international group comprised of physicians and scientists with a primary interest in the tumors of connective tissues. The goal of the society is to advance the care of patients with connective tissue tumors and to increase knowledge of all aspects of the biology of these tumors, including basic and clinical research.
European Association for Cancer Research
  The aim of EARC is to advance cancer research by facilitating communication between research workers including the organization of meetings. The membership of the EACR is greater than 5000 cancer researchers from more than 40 European and non-European countries.
European Oncology Nursing Society
  The mission of the EONS is to improve the care of individuals with cancer by supporting and enhancing cancer nursing throughout Europe.
European Society for Medical Oncology
  ESMO aims to establish medical oncology as a recognized specialty in Europe, promoting its science and practice, in order to maintain high standards of overall care for cancer patients. This site contains details of all the Society’s activities in its work towards that goal. In addition ESMO members have access to reference materials, including full-text access to the Educational Book produced in association with the educational program of the biennial ESMO Congress.
European Society of Surgical Oncology
  The European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) was founded in 1981 to advance the art, science and practice of surgery for the treatment of cancer. By arranging scientific conferences, professional exchanges and seminars, ESSO endeavors to ensure that the highest possible standard of surgical treatment is available to cancer patients throughout Europe. It aims to foster multi-disciplinary collaboration in the clinical management of cancer patients.
European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology
  The aim of the society is to foster radiation oncology in all its aspects. To develop standards for the Q.A. of radiation oncology, radiophysics, radiation technology and radiobiology in Europe and stimulate their implementation. To improve the standards of cancer treatment by establishing radiation oncology as a clinical specialty integrated with other cancer treatment modalities. To promote international exchange of scientific information on radiotherapy & oncology and related fields of science such as radiophysics and radiobiology. And to set standards for education and practice in radiation oncology and associated professions.
International Psycho-Oncology Society
  Founded in 1984, the
International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) was created to foster international multidisciplinary communication about clinical, educational and research issues that relate to the subspecialty of psycho-oncology and two primary psychosocial dimensions of cancer. The response of patients, families and staff to cancer and its treatment at all stages, and the psychological, social and behavioral factors that influence tumor progression and survival.
Société Internationale d'Oncologie Pédiatrique
  Also known as International Society of Paediatric Oncology, it is the major global organization concerned with the issues of children and young people who have cancer. Their mission is to bring the best possible care for children with cancer to the farthest corners of the globe.
Society of Gynecologic Oncologists
  The SGO is a non-profit, international organization made up of obstetricians and gynecologists specializing in gynecologic oncology. Its purpose is to improve the care of women with gynecologic cancer, to raise standards of practice in gynecologic oncology and to encourage ongoing research.
UICC - International Union Against Cancer
  UICC is the only international non-governmental organisation that is dedicated exclusively to the global control of cancer.  Its vision is of a world where cancer is eliminated as a major life-threatening disease for future generations. Its mission is to build and lead the global cancer control community.

ACROnet - American College of Radiation Oncology
  Founded in 1989, with a current membership of approximately 1,700, the American College of Radiation Oncology is the only organization that exclusively, and uniquely, represents radiation oncologists in the socioeconomic and political sphere without influence from any other specialty.
American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)
  This association is a scientific society of over 17,000 laboratory and clinical cancer researchers. The AACR publishes five prestigious journals; convenes an annual meeting attended by more than 13,000 scientists from around the world; organizes several highly focused scientific conferences each year on new and significant developments in research; offers educational workshops and grants to young investigators; maintains an active public education program; and interacts frequently with cancer survivors, lay advocates, and the general public in support of its mission.
American Psychosocial Oncology Society
  The mission of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS), a national, multidisciplinary organization, is to promote the psychological, social, behavioral, spiritual and physical well being of patients with cancer and allied diseases and their families at all stages of disease and survivorship, through clinical care, education, research and advocacy.
American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)
  As a non-profit organization, ASCO is dedicated to achieving its mission of strongly supporting all types of cancer research, particularly patient-oriented clinical research. This site features current news, a searchable database of oncologists, links to clinical trials and more.
American Society of Hematology (ASH)
  The mission of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) is to further the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the blood, bone marrow, and the immunologic, hemostatic and vascular systems, by promoting research, clinical care, education, training, and advocacy in hematology.
American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
  The American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (ASPH/O) is a professional society of pediatric hematologists/oncologists, who study and treat childhood cancer and blood diseases. This web site is intended to fulfill two roles, serving both professionals and patients. It is a forum for communication about the field of pediatric hematology/oncology and ASPH/O's programs for its members. It also serves patients and families by providing a source of current peer-reviewed scientific and clinical research and links to aid in finding other related information through the Internet.
American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology
  The mission of ASTRO is to advance the practice of radiation oncology by disseminating the results of scientific research, promoting excellence in patient care, providing opportunities for educational and professional development of its members and representing radiation oncology in a rapidly evolving socioeconomic healthcare environment.
APHON - Association of Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Nurses
  The Association of Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Nurses (APHON) is the leading professional organization for registered nurses caring for children and adolescents with cancer and their families.
National Cancer Institute
  Cancer.gov is the home of the National Cancer Institute. This site covers all of the the activities of the NCI. Headings for major links are Cancer Topics, Clinical Trials, Cancer Statistics, Research & Funding, News and About NCI. There is also a Spanish version.
ONS Online - Oncology Nursing Society
  The web site for the Oncology Nursing Society provides information for nursing professionals on clinical practice, news, patient and professional education and conferences.
Society of Surgical Oncology
  The mission of the Society of Surgical Oncology is to ensure that all cancer patients receive the highest quality, comprehensive, multimodal cancer care. The society will accomplish this by providing dynamic leadership and a substantial commitment to excellence in the broad specialty of surgery and surgical oncology.
 
Cooperative Groups
 
ACOSOG: American College of Surgeons Oncology Group
  The purpose of this oncology group is to conduct prospective, randomized clinical trials evaluating surgical therapies in the management of patients with solid tumors. Information about protocols, statistical data, standard operating procedures and patient registration are available on this site.
ACRIN: American College of Radiology Imaging Network
  ACRIN's overall goal is - through clinical trials of diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapeutic technologies - to generate information that will lengthen and improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Information about protocols, toxicity, and research objectives are available on this site.
CALGB: Cancer and Leukemia Group B
  The CALGB was founded in 1955 with a goal of bringing together clinical oncologists and laboratory investigators to develop better treatments for cancer. CALGB research is focused on seven major disease areas: leukemia, lymphoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, gastrointestinal malignancies, genito-urinary malignancies, and melanoma.
COG: Children's Oncology Group
  C.O.G. develops and coordinates cancer clinical trials conducted at the 238 member institutions, which include cancer centers of all major university and teaching hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as sites in Europe and Australia. C.O.G. members include over 5000 cancer researchers dedicated to saving the lives of children with cancer.
ECOG: Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group
  The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) is one of the largest clinical cancer research organizations in the United States, and conducts clinical trials in all types of adult cancers. Detailed information on protocols is available.
EORTC: European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer
  The purpose of the EORTC is to conduct, develop, coordinate, and stimulate laboratory and clinical research in Europe in order to improve the management of cancer and related problems by increasing survival but also patients' quality of life.
GOG: Gynecologic Oncology Group
  The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) is a national organization dedicated to clinical research in the field of gynecologic cancer. The purpose of the GOG is to improve the treatment of gynecologic cancer. These goals are addressed through research encompassing surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, pathology, immunology and/or gynecologic nursing.
National Wilms Tumor Study Group
  The National Wilms Tumor Study Group (NWTSG) is a multi-institutional study of the treatment of patients with Wilms tumor. The study involves the collaboration of a large number of pediatric surgeons, pediatric oncologists, pediatric radiation oncologists, pediatric urologists, and allied health professionals with a goal of developing more effective treatments for children with Wilms tumor, as well as looking for the causes of this cancer.
NCCTG: North Central Cancer Treatment Group
  The North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) is an affiliation of approximately 20 community clinics throughout the United States with a research base located at Mayo Cancer Center in Rochester, Minnesota. The NCCTG's philosophy is based on the premises that quality cancer research can be conducted by community clinics. Community clinics provide the ultimate proving ground for applying new cancer treatment and cancer control procedures to the general population. The main activity of the NCCTG is the development and implementation of clinical cancer research studies.
NCIC: National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group
  The NCIC CTG is a cooperative oncology group which carries out clinical trials in cancer therapy and supportive care across Canada and internationally.
NSABP: National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project
  The NSABP conducts clinical trials in breast and colorectal cancer at hundreds of locations around the country. In addition to treatment trials, NSABP conducts large prevention trials.
RTOG: Radiation Therapy Oncology Group
  The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group conducts clinical trials employing radiotherapy alone and in combination with other modalities in a broad range of cancers. The Group is also active in using different radiotherapeutic modalities such as implantation, radiosurgery, and three dimensional conformal treatment planning. The "Protocol Summaries" section offers links to both a summary and a complete version of RTOG protocol documents, including sample informed consent forms for each study.
SWOG:Southwest Oncology Group
  The Southwest Oncology Group is one of the largest clinical trials organizations in the world. It conducts clinical trials and basic research in a number of different types of cancer. A search for open clinical trials provides you with the title, abstract, and other information.
