  • In order to access the Chemical Abstracts Service SciFinder Scholar 2007 must be installed on your computer. This is a graphical client interface designed to link to the Chemical Abstracts Service.SciFinder Scholar runs on the PC (Microsoft Windows 98/2000/ME/NT/XP) and Macintosh OS X 10.2 or higher platforms.
  • Follow the instructions below to download and install the software on a computer running Microsoft Windows.

First time installation of SciFinder Scholar 2007:   Upgrading from a previous version of SciFinder Scholar:
  1. Download and place sfs2007.exe into a temporary folder. to download sfs2007.exe.
  2. Locate the sfs2007.exe file that you just placed in the temporary folder and double click on it to execute the setup program.
  3. When the setup program launches you will see the following onscreen prompts:
    • Type of installation: Select "Typical".
    • Do you have a disk labeled Custom Site Files? Select "No".
    • Program folder: Select "SciFinder Scholar 2007"
    • Do you want to install the SciFinder Scholar Toolbar now? Select "Yes or No". This will install an optional toolbar within Internet Explorer that allows you to launch a search session directly from within your web browser.
  4. The program will be installed in the following folder: C:\Sfschlr.
  5. When the software has been installed place site.prf into the C:\Sfschlr folder. to download site.prf - Note: this file may already exist in the C:\Sfschlr folder but you will replace it with the one you downloaded. Having trouble downloading site.prf ? for help.
  6. Test your installation of SciFinder Scholar 2007. From your "Start menu" click on "Programs" + "SciFinder Scholar 2007" + "SciFinder Scholar".
  7. If you would like to install ViewerLite™ to view 3D structure models to download ViewerLite50_4cas.exe. Save this file to a temporary folder and double click ViewerLite50_4cas.exe to install the program. (Note: You must install this program on your "C:" drive)
