All M. D. Anderson employees and students can use ILLiad (the online document ordering and delivery system) to place requests for the following:
- Journal articles, books, meeting abstracts, and other items not available online from the Research Medical Library or the HAM-TMC (Jones) Library.
- Items from the Research Medical Library’s print collection, including journal articles, book chapters, and books.
This means you have an alternative to visiting the Library in person when you need access to items in the print collection. Items that can be scanned, such as journal articles and book chapters, will be made available to you electronically through ILLiad. Books will be checked out to you and sent to your unit through inter-office mail, or they can be held at the Library for pickup.
The photocopying and delivery of items from the print collection is a free service; however, turnaround time may vary depending on Library workload (please allow 2-7 days). Rush service is generally not available for these items. If you need an item within 24 hours, please come to the Library and retrieve it.
To take advantage of the ILLiad service, you must have completed the following two steps:
- Be currently registered for library privileges with the Research Medical Library. If you are unsure of your registration status, call 713-792-2282 to check. To register, come to the Library’s Information Desk with your M. D. Anderson badge. If you would prefer to fax in your registration form, and a photocopy of the front and back of your ID Badge, please call the Information Desk for assistance.
- Be registered to use the ILLiad system. To register for ILLiad
(The form will ask for your library card number, which is the number on the back of your M. D. Anderson badge below the barcode).
