Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recognized as the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of people - at home and abroad, providing credible information to enhance health decisions, and promoting health through strong partnerships. A content rich site that offers free access to its publications, public health related software and other products.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
  The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. CMS runs the Medicare and Medicaid programs - two national health care programs that benefit about 75 million Americans. And with the Health Resources and Services Administration, CMS runs the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). CMS also regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the United States. Approximately 158,000 laboratory entities fall within CMS's regulatory responsibility.
Department of Health and Human Services
  The DHHS site provides links to the many agencies and programs of this department of the federal government.
Food and Drug Administration
  This is a very large site with a lot of information. It covers everything from adverse reactions to wellness and has both regulatory information on products and manufacturers as well as specific tools and calculators for clinical use. Unfortunately it is not an easy site to navigate but does have an A-Z index, a site index and a good search engine.
Center for Scientific Review
  The CSR is charged with the review of applications for scientific studies. The NIH Center for Scientific Review (CSR) is committed to providing an open environment that promotes personal interactions with all segments of the extramural research community. Information about the review process, procedure and the study sections which review the grant applications is readily available.
National Cancer Institute
  Cancer.gov is the home of the National Cancer Institute. This site covers all of the the activities of the NCI. Headings for major links are Cancer Topics, Clinical Trials, Cancer Statistics, Research & Funding, News and About NCI. There is also a Spanish version.
National Institutes of Health
  Although quite large this site is well designed and easy to navigate. Information is organized by type with major categories for Health Information, Grants and Funding, News and Events, Scientific Resources, Institutes, Centers and Offices and vital information about the NIH.
