American Board of Medical Specialties
  The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) is the umbrella organization for the 24 approved
medical specialty boards in the United States. The ABMS maintains a list of all board certified diplomates. Information about a physician's certification status can be obtained from this site or their print publication. Free registration is required in order to search this site.
American College of Physicians (ACP)
  The American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM) is the nation's largest medical specialty society and its members include both physicians and medical students. Its mission is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of health care by fostering excellence and professionalism in the practice of medicine.
American College of Surgeons (ACS)
  The American College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.
American Medical Association (AMA)
  Founded more than 150 years ago, AMA's strategic agenda remains rooted in our historic commitment to standards, ethics, excellence in medical education and practice, and advocacy on behalf of the medical profession and the patients it serves. A helpful search tool called Doctor Finder allows anyone to search for a physician by specialty and location or by name.
American Medical Women's Association (AMWA)
  Join 10,000 women physicians and medical students who are making a difference in the medical profession. AMWA is dedicated to meeting the challenges specific to women physicians and addressing the needs particular to women patients. Most women physicians choose to belong to AMWA because of the variety and quality of membership benefits such as thought-provoking journals, networking opportunities, and personal and professional development opportunities. AMWA also provides opportunities for its members to participate in continuing medical education opportunities that support their professional needs and their plan for lifelong learning.
American Nurses Association (ANA)
  The American Nurses Association is a full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.6 million Registered Nurses through its 54 constituent state associations and 13 organizational affiliate members. ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the economic and general welfare of nurses in the workplace and projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing.
Harris County Medical Society
  The Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) is the largest county medical society in the United States, with a membership of approximately 8,900 physicians and medical students. It is the professional organization for physicians in Harris County. This site provides information about local and national meetings, community health issues, news items, legislative agendas and a list of services available to members.
Texas Medical Association (TexMA)
  The Texas Medical Association serves the physicians of Texas. This site provides information on legislative issues, news items, the TMA Library, continuing education and links to other medical resources.
