NCHS is the Federal Government's principal vital and health statistics agency. Since 1960, when the National Office of Vital Statistics and the National Health Survey merged to form NCHS, the agency has provided a wide variety of data with which to monitor the Nation's health. NCHS data systems include data on vital events as well as information on health status, lifestyle and exposure to unhealthy influences, the onset and diagnosis of illness and disability, and the use of health care. This is a content and data rich site that provides data in preformatted tables as well as raw data. Highlights include a top 10 list, tabulated data by states and an information showcase focusing on specific types of illness or injury. |

The purpose of this WHOSIS website (WHO Statistical Information System) is to describe - and to the extent possible provide access to - statistical and epidemiological data and information presently available from the World Health Organization and elsewhere in electronic or other forms. Most WHO technical programs make information available to the public. The WHOSIS allows the user to search by keywords through the entire WHO website, and globally throughout the WWW. This is a very large site filled with statistical data and data analysis. It is well organized and searchable. |
