Important

You MUST log into the VPN using the link provided on the Library's home page located at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library in order to access online journals and databases.

Do not use any other link such as a "bookmark", "favorite", or any link from within the main M. D. Anderson Cancer Center web site.


Troubleshooting Tips

How to use the Secure Token VPN for Library access:

Go to the Library's home page at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library
Click on the link "M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Secure Token VPN Access" located near the bottom of the Library's home page under "Remote Access Options" as shown in the illustration below:

When you click on the link above the following page will display:

The page MUST display the "Welcome to the Secure WebAccess System for Research Medical Library" banner.


Make sure that you DO NOT see the following screen. This screen is for general M. D. Anderson VPN access and will not allow you access to the Library's online resources. Return to the Library home page at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library and click on the" M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Secure Token VPN Access" link again.




Enter your MyID username (this is usually the same as the one you use to login to your computer at work)
Enter your passcode (PIN + tokencode which is the 6 digits currently showing on your RSA SecurID token)
Click the SIGN IN button. (See illustration below)

The first time you login, you will receive numerous prompts to install software and components, this is normal. Accept these prompts and proceed.

Once you login, you will see a screen that briefly displays a message stating "Remote Access Login Successful". (See illustration below).


You will now be be redirected back to the Library's home page. You should also see the following icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen:

This is the "Network Connect" icon and it indicates that you are connected to the VPN. You will now have access to all of the Library's online resources.

 
Signing out of the system:
 

To disconnect from the SSL VPN, right click on the "Network Connect" icon in the "system tray" to display the menu at right:
 
Select "Sign Out" from the popup menu.
 
Troubleshooting Tips:
 

When you click on the "M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Secure Token VPN Access" link you immediately see the "Remote Access Login Successful" message and are not prompted to log in. However, you cannot access any of the Library's online journals or databases.You also DO NOT see the "Network Connect" icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen:

This is usually a problem with your browser's cookies. The easist way to resolve this issue is to delete your cookies, close your browser, and then relaunch your browser and try to log in again.

To delete cookies from Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Click on Tools then Internet Options to display the following screen:


 

Internet Explorer 7

Click on Tools then Delete Browsing History to display the following screen:

 

You are disconnected shortly after connecting to the SSL VPN and receive the following message:

"System Log Message: The Network Connect session terminated. Do you want to reconnect? (nc.windows.app.23711)"

Check to see if you have "Bonjour for Windows" installed. It will be located in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Bonjour

Older versions of this software conflict with the SSL VPN. The latest version corrects this problem and can be downloaded and installed for free from the following location:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/bonjourforwindows.html

When you log into the "Secure WebAccess System for Research Medical Library" you are taken immediately to the Library's home page but do not see the "Remote Access Login Successful" message and cannot access any of the Library's online journals or databases.You also DO NOT see the "Network Connect" icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen:

 

You have entered the wrong username or passcode. Return to the login screen link at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library and try to login again.

 
How do I get an account?
 

Accounts must be requested through the ISARP Web site. When making the request, on the "Available Resources" list, select SSL VPN (Remote Access). If you need assistance please contact 4-INFO (713-794-4636). 4-INFO will provide you with information to request a VPN remote access account.
