EMBASE Now Available from the Research Medical Library

EMBASE is a biomedical and pharmaceutical database indexing over 7000 journals including 1800 biomedical journals not available in the MEDLINE (PubMed) database.  EMBASE journals cover the following fields: drug research, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, toxicology, clinical and experimental human medicine, health policy and management, public health, occupational health, environmental health, drug dependence and abuse, psychiatry, forensic medicine, and biomedical engineering/instrumentation. There is selective coverage for nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, psychology, and alternative medicine.

EMBASE is organized using EMTREE subject headings and is available from the Research Medical Library through the OvidSP interface.  The librarians will use this database to perform and document complex searches for systematic reviews and meta analyses.  All MD Anderson faculty , students and staff have access to the database and will be able to search for citations to over 20 million articles.

USMLE Step 2 Practice Exam

The HAM-TMC Library (Houston Academy of Medicine –Texas Medical Center Library) provides the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) Step 2 Practice Exam including 8 exam blocks in both test and study mode and detailed score reports.  Step 2 of the USMLE assesses whether individuals can apply medical knowledge and skills for patient care with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention.   There are two components of Step 2, Clinical Knowledge (CK) and Clinical Skills (CS).  CK uses a multiple-choice exam and CS uses standardized patients to test the ability to gather information from patients, perform physical examinations, and communicate findings to patients and colleagues.
