Many employees never receive training in the development of these skills; the good news is that communication skills can be built and learned and the most common obstacles can be spotted and avoided. HR Talent Development Training Specialist Dustin Bennett will help you achieve results when communicating and presenting your research with others.

Three Simple Rules for Effective Presentations

Presentations are an integral part of our professional lives, so how can we improve them to enhance learning? Guest presenter Lee Andrew Hilyer, MLIS, M.Ed. in Instructional Technology, head of Information and Access Services at the University of Houston Libraries, will provide three simple evidence-based and theory-backed guidelines we can use to drastically improve our presentations and make them more learner-centered by combining words and pictures.

Effective Poster Presentations

Medical Graphics & Photography will discuss the institutional branding standards for MD Anderson scientific posters.  Come see how you can create a poster yourself by downloading the institutionally approved template and stock images from the Medical Graphics & Photography website.  They will also discuss using patient identifiable images on your poster and how their Department’s designers can create a custom scientific poster for you.  Scientific Publications will help you learn how to effectively tell the story of your research or project by integrating textual and visual elements for maximum impact.
