The Research Medical Library is moving to the 21st Floor of the Pickens Academic Tower on May 9. In order to relocate all collections, equipment, furniture, and personnel to our new home as quickly and efficiently as possible, the library will close at 5:00pm, Friday, May 9, 2008. The new library will reopen at 7:30am, Monday, May 19, 2008.
Any books you have checked out may be returned during the closure to the current book drop outside the entrance at Y2.6005 or you may send them via inter-office mail to Unit 1499. | Download 50 Articles from SCOPUS Simultaneously |
| |
SCOPUS announces a new feature that will speed your retrieval of full-text articles. The new "Download" button will search for full-text from your list of results and retrieve the pdf copies of readily available articles.
In a sample search of 37 results, SCOPUS was able to retrieve 19 articles with just a few clicks. The articles were saved with easily recognizable file names and to a user-selected folder on the computer. Checking the full-text availability of the 18 remaining citations, the librarian was able to find 5 additional full-text articles that SCOPUS was unable to locate. These articles were found in password-protected journals or in journals that did not have the direct object identifier (DOI) number enabled. The remaining 14 articles were retrieved in via interlibrary loan. Using the SCOPUS download feature saved the librarian approximately 30 minutes of searching.
SCOPUS Download will retrieve up to 50 citations simultaneously. Depending on the number of articles you select to download, the process may take a few minutes to complete. Try out this new feature today by accessing the SCOPUS database from the Research Medical Library at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library/databases/databases.html
If you would like a special training session on SCOPUS for your department or team, please contact Clara Fowler at cfowler@mdanderson.org or 713-745-1538. Any questions about searching SCOPUS can be directed to the Research Medical Library Information Desk at 713-792-2282. |
