Welcome to Our New Space

The Research Medical Library is now located on the 21st floor of the Pickens Academic Tower. You're invited to visit and enjoy the fabulous views and quiet serenity of the new library. We're open from Monday-Thursday from 7:30am - 9:00pm, Friday from 7:30am - 7:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am - 5:00pm. As part of our new space we offer three group study rooms that seat from 2 to 6 people and are equiped with a whiteboard and computer. You may reserve the group study rooms up to one month in advance for up to four hours at a time. To reserve a group study room, call our Information Desk at 713-792-2282.

Summer Brown Bag: My NCBI

Did you know that you can set up PubMed to automatically email you any new articles that meet your search criteria using My NCBI? This could be very important if you are applying for a grant or writing an article and don't want to miss the most current information before the submission deadline. The Research Medical Library will be offering a series of summer brown bag sessions over lunchtime in the Conference Room. The first session is scheduled for Thursday, June 12 from 12:00pm-1:00pm and the topic will be My NCBI. Bring your lunch and join us for this informal session. Seating is limited to 20 attendees. Please email Esmeralda Calderon, ecalder@mdanderson.org, to reserve your space for this brown bag.

Health Disparities Now Easier to Search in PubMed

PubMed announced in May that they have added a special query for health disparities literature. The new comprehensive search combines all terms for health disparities and populations affected by health disparties under one search. Currently, there are 57,785 articles available through this search. Combining this search with cancer provides 5787 articles. To access the health disparities search, go to the Special Queries section of PubMed at http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/special_queries.html. If you have any questions about PubMed searching or would like to consult with a librarian about your research, email RML-Help@mdanderson.org or call the Information Desk at 713-792-2282.
