These journal impact factors are the average number of times articles from the journal published in 2005-2006 have been cited in 2007.
The impact factor is calculated by dividing the number of citations in 2007 by the total number of articles published in the two previous years. Cancer Cell has an impact factor of 23.858, which means that, on average, the articles published in 2005 and 2006 have been cited 23.858 times in 2007. Citing articles may be from the same journal; most citing articles are from different journals.
New to the top twenty list of oncology journals this year are Neuro-Oncology, Neoplasia, and the Journal of Pathology. These journals replace Oncologist (dropped to 22 with an impact factor of 4.876), Cancer and Metastasis Reviews (dropped to 38 with an impact factor of 4.214), and Seminars in Radiation Oncology (dropped to 43 with an impact factor of 3.788).
The Research Medical Library carries current online subscriptions to all of these journals. They are available from the Online Journals page at http://www3.mdanderson.org/library/online-journals/jrnls.html.
