The health care professionals at the Cancer Prevention Center are working to make sure
many people will never know what it's like to have cancer.
Since prevention is a person's best defense against the disease, the center offers
comprehensive screening and early detection services for several cancers.
They include:
· CheqUp Health Risk Assessment -- an interactive computer-based health
questionnaire that assesses cancer and heart disease risks.
· Comprehensive Cancer Screening Examination -- a thorough cancer screening
examination that includes individualized instruction for self-examination.
· Cancer Prevention Consultation -- a review of risk assessment and screening
results with recommendations for reducing personal cancer risks.
· Nutrition Counseling -- a dietary evaluation with personalized counseling for
risk reduction.
· High-Risk Evaluation -- offers risk-reduction strategies and provides
specialized screening tests for individuals at increased risk for cancer.
· Chemoprevention -- the use of drug therapy to prevent cancer in high-risk
patients.
· Wellness Program -- a monitoring program to help long-term cancer survivors
minimize their risks and detect recurrences early.
· WellCheq -- screenings for cancer patients to detect a second cancer in a
different body site.
· Genetic Testing and Counseling -- offered to qualifying individuals who are at
increased risk for certain cancers due to a personal or family history of the disease.
· The Learning Center -- provides the latest information on cancer and
