Protein makes noninvasive breast cancer invasive – CNL
A team led by scientists at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center reports this week in the journal Cancer Cell that an overexpressed protein converts noninvasive breast cancer into invasive diseasel. The protein 14-3-3 zeta allows breast cells that have been turned malignant by the cancer-causing protein HER2 to slip the chemical bonds that hold them in place and make the change to invasive or metastatic disease. Senior author Dr. Dihua Yu explains the mechanisms that launch this deadly conversion.
