Patient Care Coordinators

Health insurance coverage is a major concern for most M. D. Anderson patients. Our Patient Care Coordinators work with each patient to create the insurance plan that best fits their needs. Utilization management techniques are used to maintain insurance coverage for both inpatients and outpatients.

Whenever possible, Patient Care Coordinators conduct regular reviews of patient charts and attend rounds twice a week. They rely on other medical team members to identify patients with insurance problems, and make sure those patients get the phone number of a coordinator who can help them.   

Patient Care Coordinators can also assist with discharge planning, continuing to help patients find the services they need after they leave M. D. Anderson.
