INTRODUCTION
HEMANGIOMA
- Capillary,
cavernous, intramuscular
- 80 to 90%
occur in age group < 30 years
- Common in
lower extremity, especially thigh
- Synovial
hemangioma may occur in an intraarticular location

23-year-old female with surgically proven intramuscular hemangioma
of thigh.

T2W MR image reveals characteristic foci of high signal
intensity within mass (arrow on JPEG image). This appearance
is very characteristic of hemangioma.

Representative
photomicrograph from resected specimen reveals numerous collapsed
vascular spaces (some containing blood) and a few skeletal
muscle fibers (original magnification, X60 H-E stain).
