MIMICS OF SOFT-TISSUE SARCOMA

Bursal Distensions

64-year-old male with a history of melanoma and distended iliopsoas bursa.

1.
Axial T1W MR image reveals biloculated intermediate signal intensity mass posterolateral to the right femoral vessels in the location of the iliopsoas bursa (arrows on JPEG image).
2.
Axial T2W MR image reveals high signal intensity biloculated mass.
3.
Axial contrast enhanced T1W MR image reveals the fluid nature of the mass. Percutaneous aspiration revealed synovial fluid with no malignant cells visualized. Bursae around the greater and lesser trochnter of the femur may also distend with fluid.
