Research interests

  • cost, effectiveness and outcomes of cancer treatments at various sites of care:
    hospitals, clinics, hospices, and in the home

  • cost and outcomes of complications of hemostasis due to thrombocytopenia or deep venous thrombosis

  • outcomes and outpatient management of febrile neutropenia

  • cost of bladder cancer

As a clinical epidemiologist, Dr. Elting has developed clinical prediction rules for:

  • platelet transfusion
  • the use of growth factor
  • outpatient management of deep venous thrombosis

Dr. Elting is a member of the Board of Directors of the Multinational Association on Supportive Care in Cancer and has served on the Program Committee for the 35th and 36th Annual Meetings of The American Society of Clinical Oncology.
