Making Successful Presentations
This course concentrates on helping students develop the skills and confidence necessary to make a variety of presentations in their professional lives. Students will learn about four delivery styles (extemporaneous, impromptu, memorized, manuscript), effective delivery techniques, and appropriate content. Each student will make a number of formal and informal presentations during the course: an Elevator Introduction, a brief Impromptu Talk, introducing someone else and accepting an award, and two longer planned Professional Presentations, one with basic visual supplements and one with a full PowerPoint presentation. Instructor and peer feedback is an important element of this course. PLEASE NOTE: This course requires a substantial time commitment outside of class to prepare the presentations.
This class is designed for students with an intermediate or higher level of English fluency. It is also appropriate for students with an advanced level of English experience who are hoping to improve their career advancement.
