Amplify Your Research
The impact of a publication is dependent on several factors, including the audience and reach of the journal or publisher, the accessibility of the publication to readers, and findability of the work. Here are some tools, resources, and services to help authors track their work and increase its discoverability.
Track Research
Authors should create an ORCiD, a unique identifier, to use when publishing. ORCiD profiles are universal and are used by most major publishers and funders.
To find a full publication history for an author, and a current citation count and h-index, search Scopus for individual author profiles or Pure for faculty publication profiles. Pure profiles can be edited upon request.
Make Research Discoverable
There are three steps to making your research more discoverable:
- Choose the right journal for your audience. Manuscript Matcher analyzes the text of your manuscript’s title and abstract and offers journal suggestions.
- Make your article findable. Create a concise title and abstract that includes major keywords. Also, make sure your article will be indexed in a major database like PubMed.
- Review your copyright license before publishing. Consider Green or Gold Open Access licenses when publishing.
Measure Impact
Measure the impact of a journal by searching Journal Citation Reports for Impact Factors. Individual author impact can be tracked through Scopus or Pure. Each of these tools include h-indexes, citation counts, and Altmetric scores.
Get Your Research Noticed
Amplify your impact by notifying the publications team when a manuscript has been accepted for publication. Public Relations may create messaging through press releases, tweets, or interviews. Submit your publication here.
