M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, one of the foremost
comprehensive cancer centers in the world, is a 420-bed specialty
facility dedicated exclusively to the care and treatment of cancer
patients. The Cancer Center provides inpatient facilities, clinics,
and laboratory resources, including advanced pathology services,
electron microscopy and immunopathology, diagnostic imaging, blood
banking and blood therapy facilities, on-site radiotherapy facilities,
general and specialty surgery facilities, medical and surgical intensive
care units, and pediatric facilities. Resources in clinical pharmacology
and tumor immunology also are available. An extensive Medical Oncology
library is also on-site. The hospital itself houses several multi-floor
research wings, including a veterinary facility. Several off-site
buildings house operations totally dedicated to research. Additionally,
M. D. Anderson's administrative and support functions are conveniently
located in several high-rise buildings on the Texas Medical Center
campus.
M. D. Anderson Cancer Center's Division of
Medicine administers a three-year fellowship program in medical
oncology. The division integrates each of its department's
