For a Screening Day:
Designating a Site Coordinator

Your site coordinator will work with the M. D. Anderson Mobile Mammography coordinator and carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Arrange for a suitable location. The Mobile Mammography van must be parked on a paved, level area. The van is 36 feet long and requires 12-foot width and height clearance. Sharp turns in narrow areas cannot be made in this van. Low tree branches in the parking area should be avoided.

Restrooms are not available on the mobile van. The parking site should be selected to be near restrooms for use by clients and staff.

  • Publicize the program through distribution of posters and flyers provided by MDACC, as well as other communication channels. Be sure to include information about eligibility criteria and the reasons for them.
  • Answer or refer questions about the screening;
  • Ensure that a minimum of 25 women are signed up no later than 10 days in advance of the screening date. The maximum number that can be done in one day is 40.
  • Assist in following up with women whose mammograms are abnormal.

Please call Gayle McMorrow at 713/745-4428, or Karen Spears at 713/745-4056, with any questions.
